The following drawbacks must be accepted in these lenses:
- there is a visible dividing line on the lens
- the higher the addition, the more blurred your vision will become in the middle distance range (a trifocal lens can provide the missing range here)
- there is an abrupt transition from far to near which results in a jump effect for the wearer.
