Carl Zeiss Vision International GmbH announced a change in its management board, effective as of today. For personal reasons, Dr. Norbert Gorny, CEO of Carl Zeiss Vision, has decided to leave the company. Arne Frank (50), chairman of the advisory board of Carl Zeiss Vision will act as interim CEO and lead the company together with the executive board members Klaus Leinmüller and Dr. Raymund Heinen, until a new long term CEO has been appointed.

Arne Frank is a senior industrial advisor of the private equity company EQT, one of the largest private equity companies in Europe, and in this role chairman of the advisory board of Carl Zeiss Vision International GmbH. The company is equally owned by EQT and Carl Zeiss AG.

Up until December 31st, 2008 Arne Frank was chairman and CEO of TAC and a member of the Schneider Electric Executive Committee. He has been leading TAC, a former EQT company, since 1999 and led its very profitable growth from 100 million EUR sales to nearly 2 B EUR. Frank is also chairman of the advisory board of Contex, a previous EQT portfolio company, as well as a non executive board member of Swedish publicly listed Nibe AB. Frank is also, since Jan 1st, 2009, active as a senior advisor to Schneider Electric.

„The advisory board of Carl Zeiss Vision sincerely thanks Dr. Norbert Gorny for his engagement that he provided for the company during the past years. Dr. Gorny has built a very strong senior management team in which we believe a lot, he has also led the company through an important transition and formulated very clear strategies that will basically not change”, said Arne Frank. “As chairman of the advisory board and interim CEO I will focus my work 100 per cent on Carl Zeiss Vision. One of my main tasks will be to appoint a new CEO as quickly as possible who will then lead the company in the long term.”

Dr. Norbert Gorny (45) accepted office as CEO of Carl Zeiss Vision in October 2006. In this role he was also responsible for the integration of Sola International which Carl Zeiss Vision acquired in 2004. He focused on the development and enhancement of the global operations and sales network of Carl Zeiss Vision. From 2001 to 2006 and prior to joining Carl Zeiss Vision as CEO, Dr. Gorny was member of the executive board of Carl Zeiss AG. He joined Carl Zeiss in 1998 as head of the light microscopy business unit.
